Are all Premier League football pitches same size?
In the UK, the standard football pitch size for a professional 11-a-side game is 110x70 yards (100x64m). This size pitch is used in the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.
Why Are Football Pitches Different Sizes? Football pitches are allowed to be different sizes because it is in FIFA's Laws of the Game (LOTG). Law 1 states that goal lines must be between 45 and 90 m and the touchlines must be between 90 and 120 m.
Premier League rules state that a pitch must be at least 120 yards long by 75 yards wide, while other English league sizes range from 90 to 110 yards by 60-70 yards. There are some variations in terms of pitch conditions and playing ability, but they're not too wide of a margin when compared to one another.
Although many of the Premier League pitches are the same size, there is some variation across the grounds. Most of the biggest pitches use the same dimensions but Nottingham Forest has the largest pitch in the Premier League for the 2022/23 season measuring in at 105.2m x 71.3m.
Brighton & Hove Albions AMEX stadium has the largest pitch in the Premier league, measuring in at 105m long and 65 m wide, while Molineux, home of Wolverhampton Wanderers is the smallest at just 100m long and 64m wide. This variation shows that the regulations allow for some flexibility with regards to pitch size.
As things stand, the length of the Anfield pitch stands at 101m-long, four metres short of UEFA's regulation size. In their documentation for Euro 2024, UEFA's information on pitch requirements reads: The field of play must have the standard dimensions of 105m x 68m and respect the IFAB Laws of the Game.
This season, Bournemouth are home to the smallest ground with Vitality Stadium, otherwise known as Dean Court, able to hold just 11,364 supporters. Like Old Trafford, the venue was first opened in 1910 and completely rebuilt in 2001.
The English FA stipulates that an 11-a-side football pitch size can be between 90m and 120m long and between 45m and 90m wide. This is why no two Premier League clubs have exactly the same football pitch dimensions.
The pitch is 105 by 68 metres (115 by 74 yd) in size and the total grass area at Emirates is 113 by 76 metres (124 by 83 yd). Like Highbury, it runs north–south, with the players' tunnel and the dugouts on the west side of the pitch underneath the main TV camera.
The truth is, however, that while they are 'living grass', most Premier League pitches are 95% sand and comprise of millions of polyethylene fibres stitched into the base and which make up 4-5% of the playing surface.

For instance, Wembley's pitch could be the biggest in the world if all of the playing surface was used. However, as the FA follow FIFA and IFAB rules the pitch dimensions are 115 x 74 yards.

Old Trafford Pitch Dimensions
The length of the pitch at Old Trafford Stadium is 116 yards (106 meters) while it's width is 76 yards (69.5 meters). Interestingly, football pitches don't all have the same measurements and it's perfectly legal.
Liverpool uses a smaller pitch than many top European football clubs because they have kept the original dimensions that were constructed in 1884.

I recently enjoyed watching home fixtures of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United. Then I thought about the size of football pitch with those played in other European top tier leagues. The ones in English Premier League seem to be small when compared to the stadiums of clubs in Serie A, La-Liga and Ligue 1.
Ultimately, Premier League pitches are all roughly the same size. However, the Laws of the Game state pitches can be between 90 and 120 metres long, and drastically different in width – between 50 and 100 metres, although they must be longer than they are wide.

1. Old Trafford (Manchester United)

With a capacity of 11,364, it's fair to say that Dean Court isn't even close to being the smallest stadium in the English Football League. That title goes to the likes of Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground or Park Hall in Oswestry, both of which have room for about 2,000 supporters.

For the 2023/23 season, it is Fulham who have the smallest pitch in the Premier League, as their Craven Cottage pitch is 100m x 65m. Although Fulham have the smallest pitch, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton and Liverpool also have pitches which don't meet the required legal size required by the Premier League.
